Buyer's checklist

How to choose an online compliance training provider

Four questions worth asking before you pay for anyone's course, including ours. Each one can be checked on a provider's own pages in about thirty seconds, and each one is observable fact rather than a claim you have to take on trust.

01Does it say what the course does NOT do, before you pay?

Most compliance training is one part of a requirement, not the whole of it. A forklift course does not authorise an operator, because the employer still has to run a practical evaluation on the actual truck. An awareness course does not make somebody a competent person. If a provider only tells you that after you have paid, or prints it on the certificate where you find it afterwards, the limitation was never part of the offer.

How to check it yourself

Open any course page and search it for the words "does not". If nothing comes back, the boundary is not published.

What we do

Every course page carries its boundary statement above the buy button, and the same wording is printed on the certificate. They are generated from one source so they cannot drift apart.

02Does it name the specific regulation, down to the paragraph?

"OSHA compliant" is not a citation. The paragraph is what tells you whether the course actually covers the duty you have. 29 CFR 1910.178(l)(2)(iii) is a training requirement; 1910.178(l)(6) is a records requirement. They are different obligations and a course can cover one and not the other.

How to check it yourself

Look for a CFR, state code or statute reference on the course page itself, not in a footer or a blog post.

What we do

Course pages cite the paragraph, and the primary-sources block links to the issuing agency rather than to a summary of it.

03Can somebody else verify the certificate without phoning you?

A certificate is only worth what an auditor, an insurer or a hiring manager can confirm. A PDF proves nothing on its own, and a provider that has to be called during business hours is a bottleneck at exactly the wrong moment.

How to check it yourself

Ask whether there is a public verification page and whether it works from the certificate ID alone.

What we do

Every certificate carries an ID that resolves on a public verification page. No account, no phone call.

04Does it show you the enforcement data behind the requirement?

Training budgets get spent evenly across topics that are not enforced evenly. Knowing which standards actually draw citations, and what the penalties run to, is how you decide what to train first rather than training everything a little.

How to check it yourself

Look for citation counts and penalty figures with a pull date and a named source. Undated figures have usually been typed in once and left.

What we do

Course pages carry citation counts and average penalties from our own ingest of public US Department of Labor enforcement records, with the date the figures were pulled.

What no online course can do, ours included

These limits come from the regulations themselves, not from any provider's choice of format. If someone sells you one of these as fully complete and online only, that is the clearest signal you will get about the rest of their catalogue.

What is actually being cited

Enforcement is not spread evenly across topics, so a training plan that treats every standard alike is spending in the wrong places. These are the most-cited standards in our catalogue, from public US Department of Labor enforcement records, pulled 2026-08-23.

Our courses, and the rule each one documents

43 courses that publish both the regulation they teach to and what they do not cover. That is the second criterion above, applied to us, so you can check the claim rather than take it.
